Shelley Moertel

Shelley is a design professional with over 13 years of experience in leading teams and solving complex information and interaction design problems. As an experienced design consultant, Shelley has a gift for quickly gaining expertise in her clients' industries and helping to identify their needs.

In her consulting career, Shelley has managed accounts and designed for clients including Nokia, Samsung Telecommunications, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Millennium Pharmacy Systems. For several months, she lived and worked in Sydney, Australia, consulting with several of Australia's largest national companies.

Shelley has designed interfaces and interactions for products ranging from web applications to wearable computers to mobile devices. Common to all of her designs are a logical organization of information and functionality, and a simple, clean aesthetic. She has expertise in designing accessible interfaces that comply with federal accessibility standards. As a senior interaction designer for BodyMedia, a pioneer in wearable computing and body monitoring, Shelley was a vital member of the award-winning design team, providing solutions for hardware interactions and software interfaces.

As a design researcher, Shelley has planned and conducted research for mobile and medical products using methods including contextual, direct observations; facilitation of remote product testing and evaluations; and expert reviews of products and services.

Shelley has served as a guest lecturer for the Human Computer Interaction Institute and other departments at Carnegie Mellon University.
